Mentoring is not a new concept, it actually originates from the ancient Greek tale of Odysseus who entrusted his son’s education to his friend, Mentor. However, the intrinsic value of mentoring is becoming increasingly recognized and accepted, not only in terms of individual job satisfaction and career progression but also because of the impact mentoring can have on the achievement of goals for the individual, organisation and the industry.

In its most basic and purest form the practical implication of a mentor or mentor program is the strategic insights and practical thinking that is shared. These insights or ‘nuggets” from my perspective saves the mentoree or recipient hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy‐to‐digest format.

As the incredible fortunate recipient of a CAFBA scholarship right at the onset of my career in finance, this program has formed an integral component of my ongoing growth as a business executive and part of my fundamental growth and success.

CAFBA is leading the industry with initiatives to support women to succeed in the Equipment and Commercial finance industry by providing scholarships for leadership and development programs.

This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring female brokers in our industry. Nominations are open until 7 December 2018 to select the next round of scholarship candidates, don’t miss out on this opportunity, it is a game changer.

I’d like to encourage any mentors who know of suitable candidates to please reach out to me as together we can really encourage and support the industry with providing these opportunities to the right people.

If you are interested yourself or need additional information please contact me, but don’t delay to get the nominations in!
