The long anticipated day of judging has arrived, and the team at Loanezi could not be more excited as we all eagerly wait to see the 5 chosen pieces of art for the Currumbin Special School Christmas card project.

The Executive team at the school have been sharing with us updates about the enthusiasm they have noted from the students as they delight in the participation of what is a seemingly typical activity for a school aged student, simply by being part of a competition.

Brianna was thrilled to attend today as the special guest Loanezi judge, alongside the principal Nicky, the vice principal Bex and our friends Andy and Charles from The Rotary club Burleigh Heads.  The Loanezi team collectively elected Brianna as our brand ambassador as her beautifully natural creative flair was just the perfect fit to help ensure we select the top 5 art creations that would best suit as Christmas card design.

Our graphic designer Aby has been working in the background for weeks getting the gorgeous design frameworks ready, and we could not be more delighted with what has been selected today to move forward with to the next step.  All the students who participated demonstrated such amazing artistic skill that the selection process was noted to have been a genuine challenge for the judges.  Unfortunately you will all need to wait until the winners have been announced at the School Assembly on Monday the 10th of September, before we will announce and display the beautiful creations in our next update.  But trust us that the suspense is worth every bit!

As a parent myself, the heartfelt pride I feel to be making any difference in these beautiful children’s lives, warms me up and encourages me to do what I can to raise awareness and generate great support for this project.  I have started a Facebook fundraising page which we are using for any pre-orders.  The Christmas cards will be sold in packs of 5 cards for $20, and we expect will be ready for distribution by the first week of October.  The conservative goal is to sell 150 packs, which will raise $3000 in total, all of which will go directly to the Currumbin Special School as all design and printing costs will be fully funded by Loanezi.  We do however hope that with enough community support and the help of the Rotary Club Burleigh Heads, who are proud partners with us in this project, that we will exceed our projected expectations.  For this reason we have had an early start and allowed ample time for reprint before Christmas.

This is a worthy local cause that really needs community support.  I have personally met some of the students and parents who belong to this very special state school, and many of the parents of these children struggle to have normal career opportunities as their children require such high amount of care.  Coming to school, and having all the required tools to develop skills these students need for everyday life will be the difference between having some level of independence as adults, or not.

Most of us tend to purchase Christmas cards to celebrate the beautiful festive season, why not purchase these wonderful cards this year which will add extra reason to celebrate on the joyous Christmas day.
